When I was preggers with J and Simi most people would offer unsolicited advice along the lines of "blah, blah, blah.... blink and you'll miss it" or " whatever, whatever, whatever, hold onto these days you'll never get more". All I could think was "MAN I HOPE SO because parenting is stinking hard". I was in unchartered waters and any amount of time in uncharted waters feels like an eternity. I quickly learned to swim and life after pregnancy became so much fun and joyful. So having come full circle I've got loads of advice for new parents. It goes something like: "blah, blah, blah....don't blink" and a whole lot of freespirit-let your child lead-don't control-love-mercy-anti spank-wholefood, respectful, peaceful, let your light shine parenting advice.
Looking back I realize we've had more good than bad, more laughter than tears, more peace that turmoil, more fun that agony, time moves more quickly than it stands still, and thanks to God we've done it right more often than we've done it wrong. But I have this nagging feeling of forgetfulness. Have I forgotten all the fun, silly moments, pure joy, and laughter than makes my belly hurt? In honor of nostalgia I've begun to keep a list of the things that need to be remembered for generations to come. So drum roll please.. award for my all time favorite kid-word is: gym-ass-kicks. To hear my tender, innocent 3 year old say "when can I go to gym-ass-kicks?" makes my smile impossible to conceal. Never has a more appropriate non-word been so much better than the original. I want to give a shout out to Simi who was the original author. You make me belly laugh.
Gym-ass-kicks starts again in a few weeks and Simi is pumped and I am sure to have a belly laugh or two.
also, my digital camera is broken but being on the Ramsey Financial Freedom plan or as I now call it the Damn-sey Financial Suffocation Plan means that I have to budget for a new camera. Going at my current pace I'll have a new camera in time for the London summer Olympics. So if you've got a digital camera you'd like to toss my way I'll take it.
